FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

What is stickychicken?

stickychicken is a destination where people that like to play pick-up games can connect with others that have similar interest. The project was officially launched on January 23, 2008.

What is a pick-up game?

Pick-up games are activities that are open to everyone. Usually, players meet other players at a specific game location and organize as they go. This includes choosing teams, making rules and substituting players as needed.

I'm a bit rusty, what skill level do these pick-up games require?

Hmm...depends on the activity and the organizer.  Usually the event owner will specify the required level of play, for example, beginner or advanced.

What’s the deal, why isn’t my location listed?

We (Richard and Danny!) thought it would be best to start with a small sample size of locations for our beta launch. That being said, we’d love to here where you play. Drop us a hint in our feedback section.

Why should I trust other people that post pick-up games?

Of course, trust is something that is always built. But, to help ease your worries, we’ve developed a rating system. It’s our hope that after you’ve participated in an activity with others, you’ll take the time to rate the event in your game dashboard. Rating games benefits the entire stickychicken community.

How do I rate the games that I’ve participated in?

If you’ve expressed interest in a particular game before it took place (by clicking “interested”), then you’ll be eligible to rate the game afterwards. Simply go to your game dashboard and give it a rating on a scale of one to five (five being the best).

What should I consider when I rate a particular pick-up game?

Please keep in mind that you are NOT rating the game itself. Rather, you are rating the dependability of the game organizer. This includes the organizer’s tardiness, accuracy of his or her posting, and the game organization.

Are you guys affiliated with a bigger company, like Google or Yahoo?

Nope, this is truly a garage-type project. We’re a two-man tag team that, ironically enough, met over a pick-up game of chess at a small start-up. That being said, we hope that you’ll embrace us just the same!
